World Mental Health Day: A Founder's Journey
Share
Hey - I’m Jon Shapiro, founder of Mindset Wellness. Today is World Mental Health Day — a day that holds deep meaning for me, both personally and professionally.
The journey to Mindset Wellness, and everything it stands for, is born from my own struggles with mental health, particularly anxiety and depression.
It’s not something I often share publicly, but in a world where so many are silently struggling, now feels like the right time to share my story.
My early youth was marked by trauma — events that left lasting scars and stayed with me throughout my life. No matter the chapter I was in, whether as Jon Saint, the rapper chasing his dream, or later as the founder and CEO of Mixology Clothing Company, these traumas followed me like a shadow.
I didn’t give in easily, though. I sought help from doctors, took my medications, and tried to live my life, but the weight of those experiences remained, lingering quietly behind the scenes.
Anxiety and depression became a constant companion. Some days, I felt like I was drowning in my thoughts, with fear and doubt clouding everything around me. Other days, it was like being stuck in quicksand, where no amount of effort could pull me out. For years, I wondered if I’d ever feel in control of my mind again — if I’d ever find clarity and peace amidst the chaos.
But through it all, something started to shift. I realized that while I couldn’t always control my circumstances, I could choose how I responded to them. I could decide how I reacted to the dark moments, how I thought about myself, and ultimately, how I wanted to feel each day.
It wasn’t an overnight change, and it certainly wasn’t easy, but I began to make small choices that supported my mental health. I prioritized self-care, and turned to natural remedies to help me manage my mood.
That shift — that change in mindset — was the spark that ignited what would later become Mindset Wellness.
I wanted to create something that could help others make that same choice — to take control of how they feel and reclaim their mental well-being. I wanted to build a brand that empowered people, that offered more than just products, but also a community — a safe space where we could talk openly about mental health and support each other through life’s challenges.
Mindset Wellness has grown into more than CBD and terpenes; it’s a lifeline for those of us who need to take control of our mental health and choose how we show up in the world.
Each product, each gummy, each patch is designed with intention — to help you reclaim your mindset and take back your power.
If you’re reading this and struggling with anxiety, depression, or even just feeling overwhelmed by life, I want you to know that you’re not alone.
I’ve been there. I still have days where the anxiety creeps in, or the weight feels a little too heavy. But I’ve learned that I can choose my Mindset, and I want to invite you to do the same.
This World Mental Health Day, I encourage you to pause, reflect, and ask yourself: What if I could choose my mindset?
With love and gratitude,
Jonathan Shapiro
